I called prior to making my reservation to confirm the tour was handicapped accessible. I was told yes, however, after our wonderful guide took us thru the house, she told us the tour was not level. That doesn’t work for a wheelchair so we couldn’t do the walking part of the tour.

Learning about the marsh and surrounding areas. Guide was just awesome and patient with questions. Highly recommend this tour.

Carol was an awesome guide! We really enjoyed hearing about the history of the area and all the nature around there. She was very knowledgeable and informative. We learned quite a bit about the nature in the marshes around the museum. She is also a wonderful photographer and was able to show us some pictures that she has taken to be able to explain some of the nature we were seeing. Thanks for a wonderful tour Carol. The museum itself was very informative also. They had a great area for kids that was hands on.

The Butterfly House was awesome but the history of the Museum and grounds really came to life when narrated by Carol. I enjoyed her knowledge, her enthusiasm and her patience. She made everything interesting and fun!

Really nice grounds to walk and take in natural beauty and stting of the area along with a museum with nice exhibits. We also.took the may river maritime cruise which was offered through the museum.the cruise was quite enjoyable and our capt. Was a source of local info and really good.enjoyed both.

My sister took me to the coastal discovery Museum today, it was a bit chilly but we endured. They have a nice hot older plantation home with great information about the area because all a G, Flora, fauna, history. There are classes offered which I would love to take but didn’t have time on this trip. And then there are walking tours that are self guided where you can see lots of indigenous Birds and animals. There’s a butterfly garden and just beautiful grounds to walk. I would love to come back in warmer weather, the weather dipped into the 30s this week on my vacation week so we didn’t get to experience fully what we wanted, but I could tell what we did experience was great. They offer so many classes and trips and educations it was really impressive.

Jeff is our volunteer tours guide, he is doing very excellent job, even though my wife and I were the only two peoples in the tour and our English is not very good, he explain everything very detail to us, the whole tour is about 90 minutes.

I enjoyed my visit. There is a variety of things to see inside the museum - history, art, info on animals. But I enjoyed my walk around the grounds most. There were stops along the trail that were well marked, with signs along the way on what you might see at the location. There was a butterfly house that I am sure is amazing during the butterfly season. Overall it took me 1.5 hours to tour the house and the property

We loved the butterfly garden and the museum was enjoyable. My favorite was the turtle who follows your finger in the tank. So cute. The history of Hilton Head is right there. The Gullah baskets are beautiful. The little gift shop is fun for the family. We enjoyed rocking on the porch rocking chairs and taking time out. The magnolia trees are magnificent.
