Accor Launches Australia’s First National Silly Sock Day to Support Domestic Violence Victims and Raise One Hundred Million USD

Accommodation Indiana introduces

Accor is proud to introduce Australia’s first National Silly Sock Day on 25 November 2025, a heartwarming new initiative aimed at supporting women and children escaping domestic violence. In collaboration with DV Collective, this annual event will raise essential funds for domestic violence shelters across the country.

The funds will directly contribute to placing additional beds in shelters and expanding crucial services that help victims of domestic violence rebuild their lives. The launch coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the start of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

This inaugural National Silly Sock Day is an important milestone in Accor Pacific’s long-standing partnership with DV Collective. The event not only provides an opportunity for the public to contribute to a significant cause but also fosters a sense of community engagement. Through the sale of limited-edition socks at Accor hotels across Australia, the initiative aims to raise awareness and funding for the urgent need for safe accommodation and support services for women and children facing domestic violence. The funds raised will help ensure that more people can find the safety they need during their most vulnerable times.

National Silly Sock Day is a unique and simple way to bring together Accor’s teams, guests, and communities for a cause that affects many. Every pair of the special socks sold will contribute to providing safe nights for those in need, helping to expand the DV Collective’s growing network of shelters, frontline services, and counselling programs. This initiative allows people across Australia to show their support for victims of domestic violence, while also offering a tangible way to contribute to making a difference.

One in four women in Australia experiences domestic violence, yet one in two women seeking shelter is turned away due to a lack of available beds. This startling statistic underscores the importance of National Silly Sock Day in raising funds for shelters and increasing awareness of the severity of domestic violence. Through the sale of these specially designed socks, Accor is directly contributing to the efforts of DV Collective, which works tirelessly to eliminate waitlists and resource shortages that prevent women from accessing safe housing, legal support, and essential services.

The funds raised will go towards adding more beds to shelters and supporting the growing demand for essential services. DV Collective, which already supports more than 300 frontline services across Australia, is aiming to place 500 new beds into shelters by 2026. This goal will directly benefit from the success of National Silly Sock Day, with all proceeds from the sock sales directly supporting these efforts. The initiative’s goal is not just to raise funds, but also to keep the conversation about domestic violence going, pushing for systemic change in how the country supports its most vulnerable populations.

Accor’s involvement in National Silly Sock Day highlights the company’s commitment to community-led action and corporate responsibility. The initiative is a natural extension of Accor’s broader focus on social impact and support for charitable causes. By partnering with DV Collective, Accor is leveraging its reach and resources to bring attention to the urgent issue of domestic violence in Australia while also providing a fun, engaging way for people to contribute.

Throughout the three weeks leading up to National Silly Sock Day, Accor’s teams across the Pacific region engaged in various fundraising, storytelling, and team-building activities to raise awareness and support for the initiative. Hotels across the country hosted morning teas, fundraising events, and guest offers to draw attention to the issue. These efforts ensured that the message of National Silly Sock Day resonated beyond the event itself, creating a lasting impact on both the guests and employees involved.

DV Collective is a key partner in National Silly Sock Day, and the funds raised through the event will significantly contribute to its mission. The organisation works with shelters, community organisations, and support services to address the critical shortage of resources for domestic violence victims. This year alone, DV Collective has added 80 new beds to shelters, providing more than 29,000 safe nights. The organisation has also donated over 100,000 essential items, including hygiene products, to support women and children in need.

Through partnerships like the one with Accor, DV Collective continues to make significant strides in expanding its network of shelters and support services. As incidents of domestic violence continue to rise, the demand for services also grows, and National Silly Sock Day plays a crucial role in meeting this need. By contributing to these efforts, Accor and its partners are helping to create a safer environment for women and children escaping violence.
